…vows to strengthen GBV fight
Kaduna Civil Society Coalition Against Gender-based Violence, (KADSGBV) has vowed to strengthen its fight against gender-based violence in Kaduna State.
The newly elected chairperson of the coalition, Barrister Bukola Ajao made the disclosure briefly after the inauguration of the Executive Members of the KADSGBV.
Barrister Bukola who assured that objective of the coalition will be carried out to the latter promised to further strengthen the synergy with the state government towards ending gender-based violence.
“We intend to start on a clean slate by ensuring that the constitution and mission of the coalition are carried out to the latter”, I intend to engage more civil society coalitions out there because they said, ‘the more the merrier’ we need to work together”.
“Even though there are so many of them working in that area but the question is are we coordinated? she rhetorically asked.
“The essence of this civil society coalition is for us to be coordinated so that if you are doing one thing, someone will be able to know and do another thing, we should have a pattern and be able to have a data pool to avoid duplication, and if anyone wants to know how many cases were treated within this month when he comes to the coalition he will be able to know”. “And it is expected that everyone who comes to ask for a data would be able to have it”.
Earlier, the Barrister Rebecca Sako-John on behalf of the Interim Committee appreciated the guidance and support of UNFPA especially Mariama Darboe and Hafsat Ahmad Kagara in working along to ensure the coalition survives and is contributing to providing the needed SGBV services.
She urged the new executives to align efforts in the collation of a holistic SGBV database by submitting it to Kaduna State GBV Response TWG, using the approved template. “Identify one of the 4 thematic areas – Legal, Security, medical or Psychosocial and work with them”.
“To consolidate on Network strengthening, the Executive need to arrange for training on Resource mobilization, Team Building, financial management, Report writing and technical sessions to build up capacity for response to SGBV”.
