A ten-year-old, Joshua Noah of Bayonet Spikers of Jaji was adjudged the Best Libero of the second edition of U-19 Inter the Volleyball Championship held at Kotoko Barracks Volleyball Court, Kaduna.
The young player is also part of the second-best team, Ribadu Cantonment Stallions who pocketed the sum of 150'000 naira prize money.
"I feel good and nice by, at certain times I was afraid but in the middle of the game I was relieved and I was very free", promised to do better next year, Joshua added.
On his part, the Most Valuable Player of the Championship, Abubakar Abdulrazak of Dallet Barracks Spikers, overall winner of the second edition of the U-19 Inter Barracks Volleyball competition, said he was excited about the award.
" I am so excited and happy with the overall performance of my teammates, the award is a motivation to do more and wish to thank the President of Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod for supporting us to grow in the game".
In the other award categories, the best blocker, and best outside Hitter went to Bayonet team players, Ishaku Dogara and Peter Sapele respectively, while the best setter award goes to Musa Hamza and Isah Ibrahim emerged as the best server of the championship,
Others were Charity Silvester of Ribadu Stallions as best Opposite, best blocker award was received by Ishaku Dogara.
The final match which involved forerunners of the round-robin competition, Dallet Barracks Spikers, and Ribadu Cantonment Stallions saw the Stallions team rallying a set down to win the second set of the match and eventually lose 1 by one set to 3 to Dallet Spikers in the crucial game that gave Dallet the tournament champion.
