Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang today worshipped for the first time as the Executive Governor of Plateau State, at the COCIN Headquarters Church, Jos and called for the unity of the body of Christ for a healthy and a progressive state.
Barr. Mutfwang in a goodwill message, appreciated the Church and Plateau people for rallying round him during the polls, and requested the church to uphold him and the government in prayers to deliver on the mandate freely given to him.
The Governor was in Church with the First Lady, Barr. Helen Mutfwang, the Deputy Governor, Hon. Mrs. Josephine Piyo, former Governor of Plateau State, Sen. He said, "I want to thank God for this privilege to stand before you as ordained by law; the task that is before us is not by power, and is not by might only by the spirit of the Lord. It is only grace that has brought us this far. We are trusting God to lead us in the years to come.
"We have taken over office and already the weight of the responsibility is beginning to weigh down on us; but we asked for the job so we can't complain. By the grace of God, we are conscious that we represent our Lord Jesus Christ, we are conscious that we represent the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are conscious that we are members of COCIN and by the grace of God, we will not fail.
"I have said it clearly that I cannot deny my identity as a Christian and by the grace of God, we will trust God to mend the barrier that has divided us in Plateau State. We do not have any reason to be antagonistic to our Muslim brothers. We desire that we move together.
"Plateau is a land of destiny, and prophetic destiny concerning the land of Plateau must come to pass. I want us together, starting from the Church, let us unite. The cry in my heart is that Plateau will be united. We have suffered from divisions for too long and that has not helped us. When we are united in the church, we will transport it outside", he stated.
President, Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Rev. Amos Mohzo said the Church has the responsibility of praying for the Governor and all those who would be appointed to serve under him to carry out their tasks diligently.
