In a continued effort to support security agencies to degrade criminal elements in Kaduna State, the State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has launched the training of 7000 Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS) recruits.
The governor in a remark at the launching ceremony held at the Police College Kaduna, said the challenge of inadequate personnel to successfully wage the battle against bandits and other criminal elements has necessitated his administration’s commitment to engage the new personnel into the KADVS.
Senator Uba Sani noted that “the recruitment and screening of the trainees was the collaborative efforts of our local government chairmen, traditional and religious leaders, key stakeholders at the grassroots level, and Security Agencies. The screening was very thorough. We have here energetic young men and women of transparent honesty who are committed to securing our local communities”.
He charged the new KADVS personnel to show seriousness and commitment and be disciplined. “I am confident that you will all be found worthy of being enlisted in the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS)”.
The governor who however warned them that when they eventually enlisted into the Service they must desist from violating the rights of the citizens, saying the KADVS was set up to protect the people, not to violate their rights. “We shall not hesitate to discipline any person that flouts the operational guidelines or code of conduct of the Service”.
The governor appreciated the traditional and religious leaders, local government chairmen, the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State, the State Director of DSS, the Commandant of the Police College, Kaduna, and other heads of security agencies for their unwavering support to KADVS.
While wishing the trainees success, the governor thanked the Commander of KADVS for his leadership.
