The Kaduna state governor Senator Uba Sani, has reiterated his government commitment to collaborate with the Nigeria Union of Teachers and other stakeholders, to understand the challenges facing the state teachers and the educational sector as a whole.
With aims to review the findings base's and lasting solutions to those challenges, for betterment, strengthening, and repositioning of the standard of education in the state and the welfare of the teachers.
The governor, who is ably represented by the special advisor in labour Honourable Adamu Samaila, for the commemoration of 2023 World Teachers Day, organised by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Kaduna state wing, which was recently held at the union office in Kaduna.
The governor however stressed that his government is curious about the central roles of the teachers in the development of the state through education.
Speaking at the occasion, the Kaduna state commissioner of education professor Mohammed Sani Bello (Mainan Zazzau), represented by comrade Idris Alasan, said the Ministry of Education is making efforts for the post teachers close to their respective homes, for effective teaching celebration, for those who will posted to per area would benefit with certain package.
He also congratulated all teachers for seeing this year's World Teachers Day celebration, on the fifth of October year set aside by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to celebrate teachers and the teaching profession.
While presenting the paper, titled; "The Teachers We Need for the Education We Want "; The Global Imperative to Reverse Teacher Shortage," Dr Abdulkadir Yahaya Mohammed, from the Department of Geography Kaduna State University (KASU), said "The concern is how to apply technology in learning.
"Teachers need to keep up with this changing landscape and need to learn, develop, and innovate new ways to support today's learners."
He, however, called on the government at all levels to train, retrain, and organize workshops to keep teachers in technological compliance, computers and smartphones should be procured and distributed to Teachers free of charge or at a subsidiary rate.
Earlier in his address Kaduna state chairman of NUT Comrade Ibrahim Dalhatu, appealed to the Kaduna state government to provide palliatives to members, such as an increase in their transport allowance, provisions of staff quarters within the schools' premises, provision of vehicles,(cars and motorcycles) and prompt payment of salaries.

He however outlines the brouhaha that hindered the progress of teaching and learning in the state; harmonized retirement age for teachers, challenges of insecurity in schools, training and retraining of Teachers, confirmation of appointment for primary school teachers, permanent and pensionable appointment.
Resumption of NUT end well scheme monthly subscription for primary school teachers, recruitment of watchmen in schools in both secondary and primary schools, and the payment of salary as at when due especially for primary school teachers.
