APC Supports Plateau State House of Assembly Members-elect in Upholding Court Judgment

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Plateau State Chapter has thrown its weight behind the sixteen legitimate members-elect of the Plateau State House of Assembly in their efforts to enforce the judgment of the Court of Appeal regarding their electoral victories.

In a strongly-worded statement released from the Kalwa House in Jos, the APC expressed full support for the actions taken by the members-elect during their recent World Conference in Abuja. The party deemed their stance as not only appropriate but also necessary given the prolonged delay in actualizing their mandates.

The APC emphasized that the issue at hand extends beyond the sixteen members-elect, as it concerns the rights and representation of the people from the affected constituencies. 

The party condemned the actions of Governor Caleb Mutfwang and Speaker Gabriel Dewan, accusing them of denying the citizens their constitutional rights and manipulating the legislative process.

Highlighting the party's commitment to democratic principles, the APC reiterated the importance of upholding the rule of law and constitutionalism. 

It called upon Governor Mutfwang and Speaker Dewan to immediately swear in the sixteen members-elect in compliance with the Court of Appeal judgment.

Moreover, the party appealed to senior citizens, religious leaders, and civil society organizations to intervene and pressure the governor and speaker to respect the judiciary's decision. 

The APC expressed disappointment with the Nigerian Bar Association's apparent silence on the matter, urging them to speak out against the abuse of power and disrespect for the rule of law.

In closing, the APC assured the sixteen members-elect of its readiness to collaborate with them in reclaiming the rights of the people of Plateau State through lawful means.
