Filled with emotions and heartfelt gratitude Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State lauded President Tinubu, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and security agencies for their unwavering commitment to ensuring the safe return of 137 abducted students and pupils from Kuriga in Chikun Local Government Area.

The governor's remarks came during a poignant handover ceremony, where he received the rescued children. Governor Sani urged Nigerians to eschew spreading misinformation and instead appreciate the collaborative efforts of security agencies in addressing insecurity challenges.

Reiterating his administration's dedication to prioritizing security, Governor Sani emphasized the paramount importance of safeguarding citizens' lives and property. He cautioned against undermining the efforts of security agencies and called for unity in celebrating the safe return of the abducted children.

The handover ceremony marked a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of Kaduna State residents amidst security challenges.

During the event, Major General Mayirenso Saraso, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, revealed that the rescue team successfully liberated a total of 137 schoolchildren. However, he regretfully informed that six out of the 137 were hospitalized and receiving medical care at an Army facility. Tragically, one staff member of the school, Mr. Abubakar, lost his life while in captivity.

General Saraso outlined that the rescued students underwent psychosocial therapy at a women's and children's shelter in Kaduna City before reuniting with their parents.

The operation, spanning approximately 16 days, was a result of coordinated efforts by security agencies under the strategic guidance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The successful rescue operation stands as a testament to the concerted efforts and commitment of all stakeholders in ensuring the safety and security of Kaduna State residents.
