Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has officially kicked off the distribution of a second round of relief packages. The relief program, valued at an impressive N11.4 billion, aims to provide critical support to various segments of the population adversely affected by financial hardship.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, a total of N3.3 billion has been earmarked for the payment of pensions and gratuities. Additionally, families of deceased civil servants will receive death benefits from this fund.
"The state government has initiated the distribution of 128 trucks loaded with rice and maize, valued at N3.4 billion. These provisions will reach approximately 200,000 households, benefiting around one million individuals."
The statement further disclosed Support for Agriculture with 5,091 farmers to receive fertilizer and other essential farm inputs and implements. This strategic move aims to enhance agricultural productivity and food security.
In a significant move to revitalize Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Kaduna state, Grants ranging from one hundred thousand to five hundred thousand naira and even up to one million naira would be disbursed to 7,500 MSMEs in the state. The amount granted depends on the size and needs of each enterprise.
The statement reads in parts;
Direct Cash Transfers to Vulnerable Households:
- 9,800 poor and vulnerable households**, including over 1,000 persons with disabilities, are receiving direct cash transfers. Each beneficiary is entitled to N50,000.
-- Comprehensive Support for Vulnerable Groups and Enterprises:
- An impressive N4.2 billion has been set aside for the distribution of cash, grants, fertilizer, farm inputs, and implements. This holistic approach ensures that various vulnerable groups and enterprises receive the necessary assistance.
*Civil Servants Revolving Loan Scheme:
- Additionally, the Civil Servants Revolving Loan Scheme has been introduced, benefiting civil servants with a N500 million revolving loan. This initiative aims to empower civil servants and boost economic activities within the state.
Governor Uba Sani emphasized that these relief measures are part of the state government's commitment to the welfare of its citizens.
The distribution process is being closely monitored to ensure transparency and equitable access to the relief packages, Mohammad Lawal Shehu concluded.
As Kaduna State rallies together during these challenging times, the hope is that these relief efforts will provide much-needed support and pave the way for economic recovery and resilience.
