The Nineteen Seventeen Northern Consensus Movement for Peace Unity Empowerment and Development Initiative (NSNCM) has issued a press release on March 18th, 2024, expressing profound condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Minister of State Defence Dr. Bello Matawalle, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Gwabin Musa, Service Chiefs, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, and all Nigerians.
The NSNCM, an amalgamation of 594 registered community-based, socio-cultural, and economic associations from the nineteen northern states and associations of northerners residing in seventeen southern states, conveyed its heartfelt sympathies to the families of the brave soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
In the wake of recent tragic events in Delta State, where innocent soldiers were senselessly murdered, the NSNCM urged the Armed Forces of Nigeria not to be discouraged but to persevere in their crucial work of safeguarding the nation.
They called upon the Delta State Government and communities to fully cooperate with the Armed Forces in identifying and bringing the criminals responsible to justice.
Furthermore, the NSNCM appealed to all Nigerians to support the Armed Forces by providing valuable information and intelligence to aid in their operations, emphasizing the importance of unity in ensuring the safety and security of the country.
The organization expressed disappointment at the silence of human rights organizations in the aftermath of the soldiers' deaths, urging them to speak out against the heinous act and stand up for the defenders of human lives and properties.
Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu, the National President of NSNCM, underscored the movement's commitment to supporting the Armed Forces of Nigeria in their mission to protect the nation.
He encouraged General Christopher Gwabin Musa, along with his colleagues, the Service Chiefs, to continue their efforts in ensuring the safety and security of citizens, while also requesting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's continued support for the Armed Forces.
The press release concluded with a message of unity and solidarity, emphasizing the collective responsibility of all Nigerians in supporting the defenders of the nation.
