In a move to bolster interreligious harmony, a delegation of Christian clerics from Northern Nigeria met with His Highness Khalifah Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the esteemed former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, on Monday.
The group, led by Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru, General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, engaged in discussions with Khalifah Sanusi to reinforce the bonds of tolerance, peace, and unity among different faiths.
During the meeting, Pastor Dr. Buru lauded Khalifah Sanusi for his influential advocacy for national peace, unity, and harmony. The delegation acknowledged his significant contributions to promoting interfaith activities and suggested his nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his peacebuilding efforts.
Pastor Alhamdu John of Abuja and Pastor George Joshua of Benue State also expressed their joy and the importance of the visit, which aimed at fostering unity and tolerance across Nigeria. They highlighted the need for religious leaders to impart the true teachings of their faiths to cultivate peace and unity.
Responding, Khalifah Sanusi appreciated the gesture and commended the Christian clerics for their dedication to peace. He underscored the vital importance of peace and justice in nation-building and called for a united front among all stakeholders to advance these values in Nigeria.
The visit marks a hopeful step towards strengthening interfaith dialogue and understanding in the region.
