The outpouring of sympathy and support for the family of Olympian Tijjani Babangida has continued unabated, as more dignitaries and sympathizers visit the family in Kaduna to register their condolences.
Among the early callers this morning were the Labour Party Senatorial candidate for Southern Kaduna, Micheal Ayuba Auta, Former Vice Chairman Kaduna State Football Association, Magaji Abdu Alhassan, and Former Chairman League Management Committee (LMC), Shehu Dikko, as well as several other sympathizers.
Speaking shortly after offering his condolences, Michael Ayuba expressed his dissatisfaction with the professional conduct of medical personnel at the Ahmadu Bello Teaching Hospital, Shika, Kaduna. “I was told his brother Ibrahim Babangida died instantly, may God grant him eternal rest,” he said. “In fact, we were on the phone with Babangida, and less than 30 minutes after, I was called and told that they had an accident.
And today, we are mourning the death of his son, who died from internal injuries sustained in the same accident, while his wife had a successful surgery. This is how God has designed it, but it’s really painful.”
Shehu Dikko, Former Chairman of the League Management Committee (LMC), described Ibrahim as a gentle soul and the voice of reason in the family. “He was always the one with a second opinion, and his wisdom and guidance will be deeply missed,” he said.
The tragic loss of Ibrahim Babangida, brother of Tijjani Babangida, and his son, has sent shockwaves throughout the sports community and beyond. The family is still trying to come to terms with the sudden and untimely passing of their loved ones.
Magaji Abdu Alhassan, Former Vice Chairman of the Kaduna State Football Association, described Ibrahim as a great supporter of football and a pillar of strength to his family and friends. “His passing has left a huge void in our lives, and we will deeply miss his guidance and wisdom,” he said.
The condolence visits are expected to continue in the coming days as more people come to pay their respects to the family and offer their support during this difficult time. May Allah grant Ibrahim and his son eternal peace and forgive their sins.
