Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has taken his investment drive mission to the Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP) in Morocco, the world's largest producer of phosphate-based fertilizers.
The mission aims to partner with global agricultural leaders to boost Gombe's agricultural production, promote processing industries, and encourage economic growth.
OCP offers customized fertilizers and is a pioneer in sustainable agriculture practices, using renewable energy and unconventional water sources.
Gombe State is exploring partnership options with OCP, including fertilizer production, renewable energy development, and technical support.
During the visit, Governor Yahaya and his team toured OCP's mining towns and fertilizer factory, which produces 16 million tonnes annually.
The partnership has the potential to catalyze significant agricultural and economic growth in Gombe State. A formal agreement is expected soon to solidify the collaboration.
In a symbolic gesture, Governor Yahaya and the Emir of Gombe planted trees at the OCP site, signifying their commitment to environmental stewardship and land reclamation.
