NOA Kaduna Organizes Sensitization Campaign on Security, HIV/AIDS, Human Rights, and Discouragement of “Get Rich Quick” Schemes

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) Kaduna State has organized a one-day sensitization campaign on security awareness, HIV/AIDS, human rights, and the discouragement of “get rich quick” schemes within the society. The campaign, themed “Ethical Values and National Development,” was recently held at Arewa House in Kaduna.

In his address, the Director of NOA Kaduna State, Malam Hamisu Abubakar Meyere, emphasized the importance of collective action and active participation from all Nigerians to build an informed, secure, and ethical society. He stated that the essence of organizing the town hall meeting was to continue nationwide mobilization of people to be united and committed to addressing societal issues.

Meyere highlighted several efforts by the government to tackle insecurity, including the deployment of technology such as surveillance systems and intelligence gathering to combat criminal activities. He stressed that these efforts require the active support of citizens to report suspicious activities and cooperate with law enforcement agencies. “Security begins with you and me,” he said.

Regarding World HIV/AIDS Day, Meyere noted that the fight against HIV/AIDS cannot be won by the government alone. He urged citizens to take advantage of the services provided by the government and other entities, practice responsible health behaviors, and support those living with the virus. “Citizens have a big role to play in halting the spread of the disease,” he added.

Meyere also called on citizens to reject shortcuts to wealth and embrace integrity, hard work, and the opportunities provided through government and private sector initiatives. He warned against the tendency to resort to criminal ways to acquire illegally gotten wealth to impress others.

Addressing the issue of World Human Rights Day, Meyere highlighted the establishment of support centers for survivors of abuse and violence in collaboration with civil society. He emphasized the importance of promoting constitutional awareness to ensure citizens understand their rights and responsibilities. “These efforts will be successful when citizens stand for justice, respect the rights of others, and report violations to the appropriate authority,” he said.

Meyere concluded by stating that no government can succeed alone in addressing these critical issues. “Together, we must create a society that is healthy, secure, ethical, and united in purpose,” he added.
