The newly decorated officers of the Nigeria Customs Service Zone B Headquarters, Kaduna, have been tasked to rededicate themselves to national duty and the image of the service.

The Zonal Coordinator, Zone B, AAS Oleyede, gave the charge while decorating 60 senior officers with various ranks at a ceremony that took place at the Zone B Headquarters premises in Kabala, Kaduna, on Thursday.

He congratulated the newly decorated officers, saying the new ranks come with added responsibilities, which include improving themselves, being better representatives of the NCS, and projecting the integrity of the service based on international best practices.

Those decorated with new ranks are eight officers with Comptroller ranks, sixteen Deputy Comptrollers, and forty Assistant Comptrollers.

Oloyede said the Comptroller-General of Customs will post them to their new units and sections, but they should know that the NCS will conduct thorough research into their conduct henceforth to ensure their rightful progression.

He called upon them to bear in mind that these are new roles with new responsibilities in the way they interact with people at the office, at home, and in public.

"I remember the number of officers who sat for these promotions, but you should count yourselves lucky to have passed and now be decorated with new ranks. And don't look down on those who failed the promotion exams. Be cautious in how you treat others. Your behavior must reflect your new ranks," he said.

"Don't just wear the ranks, but improve yourselves so that you offer your best to the service for national progress and development," he emphasized.

While delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the decorated officers, Comptroller BS Sani said they are grateful to Almighty God for seeing them through these years to attain the new ranks, as well as to the NCS for finding them worthy of these ranks.

He then assured the service of their resolve to repay the confidence the service has placed in them, to do their best.

The event's highlights were exchanges of pleasantries and group photographs with family, friends, and well-wishers at the venue.
