Golden Boys Emerge Champions of Seyi Tinubu Renewed Hope Kawo Unity December Cup




Golden Boys Football Club of Kawo Kaduna emerged victorious in the thrilling final of the 2024 Seyi Tinubu Renewed Hope Kawo Unity December Cup, defeating Kawo Tornadoes Football Club 4-2 on penalties.

The match saw Golden Boys take an early lead, but Abdulazeez Butu of Kawo Tornadoes equalized in the first half, sending the game into a penalty shootout. Two missed penalties by Tornadoes ultimately handed the victory to Golden Boys.

Senior Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Community Engagement Northeast, Abdulhameed Yahaya Abba, commended Seyi Tinubu and the organizing committee, stating that the competition is reviving the glory of football in Kaduna State.


Speaking in the same vein, Kaduna North Local Government Council Chairman Muhammad Gambo Zion, APC Stakeholders Forum Chairman Abdulazeez Kaka, and Federal College of Education Potiskum Governing Council Member, Mr. Nasiru Bala Ja’oji all lauded the competition as a significant step towards sports development in the community.

In addition to the ₦250,000 cash prize, the winners, Golden Boys received a substantial ₦5 million donation from Mr. Nasiru Bala Ja’oji. Other notable donations came from Abdulhameed Yahaya Abba and Hajiya Umma Isah Galadima.

The final match was graced by a host of dignitaries, including the district head of Kawo, Alhaji Jibril Muhammad Magaji, Member representing Kaduna South Constituency in the National Assembly, Alhaji Hussaini Kero, and former Super Eagles player, Garba Lawal, (MON).

Competition Overview

The Seyi Tinubu Renewed Hope Kawo Unity December Cup, sponsored by Seyi Tinubu, commenced in November 2024 with 32 participating teams.

Ja’oji Emphasizes Grassroots Support

Mr. Nasiru Bala Ja’oji highlighted his donation as a commitment to grassroots sports development. He said that the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was dedicated to supporting youth in various fields, especially sports.

Ja’oji commended the competition’s organizer, Musa Ibrahim, for uniting the people of Kaduna State and declared the event a resounding success. He expressed optimism that Seyi Tinubu will continue his efforts to assist youth across the nation.
