As Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on Nigerians to embrace the festival's core values of faith, obedience, and sacrifice for a stronger nation.
In a statement released on June 5, 2025, Acting President of the NLC, Comrade Audu T. Amba, extended warm wishes to the Muslim community, encouraging them to reflect on the significance of the occasion.
While acknowledging the financial strain caused by soaring prices of rams and other essential commodities, the NLC expressed solidarity with Muslim faithful, hoping for a celebration filled with love, prosperity, and peace.
The statement also underscored the need for collective prayers and sacrifices, wishing worshippers divine blessings during the holy festival.
Beyond festivity, the NLC used the opportunity to urge government authorities at all levels to address the growing cost of living and insecurity plaguing the nation. The labor union emphasized that reducing economic hardship and ensuring security would create an environment where all Nigerians could celebrate freely and safely.
The Congress further encouraged citizens to remain hopeful despite current challenges, urging them to summon courage and wisdom to overcome obstacles facing the country. Reaffirming its commitment to social and economic justice, the NLC called for unity among Nigerians to build a better future.
As the nation marks this important occasion, the message remains clear—Eid-el-Kabir is not only a time for celebration but also a moment for reflection, solidarity, and commitment to a brighter, more prosperous Nigeria.
Eid Mubarak!
