Kaduna, Nigeria — The Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, describing him as a "tested democrat, courageous leader, and elder statesman" whose legacy will endure in Nigeria’s history.
In an official statement released today, the Emir conveyed the condolences of the Zazzau Emirate and its people to the late President’s family, the Daura Emirate, Katsina State, and the entire nation.
"The life of President Muhammadu Buhari was a testament to integrity, resilience, and service," the statement read. "His contributions as a military leader and a steadfast civilian president have left an indelible mark on Nigeria.
Here in Kaduna, his home, we mourn deeply and will honor his memory by upholding the values he championed—peace, progress, and unity."
The late Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023, was widely regarded as a disciplinarian and anti-corruption advocate. His leadership spanned both military and democratic eras, earning him respect across political divides.
The Emir further stated that the Zazzau Emirate stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and the nation during this period of mourning. "We join millions of Nigerians and the global community in grieving this immense loss. May the Almighty grant him eternal rest and give his family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss," he added.
The late President is expected to be buried in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, in accordance with Islamic rites. Tributes continue to pour in from leaders, institutions, and citizens nationwide, reflecting the far-reaching impact of his legacy
