The Kaduna Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has expressed profound appreciation to all members, leaders, and supporters who made the 2025 NAWOJ Hangout a resounding success.
The event, which was held on Saturday, 16th August 2025 at Wonder Kitchen, Kaduna, brought together members of NAWOJ, senior colleagues, and friends of the association for an afternoon of bonding, food, laughter, mentorship, and fun.
In a statement, the Kaduna NAWOJ Chairperson, Sahura Jibrin Maidoki, and Secretary, Hadiza Bello Abdullahi, describe the hangout as “memorable and historic,” highlighting the unity and commitment of members who contributed food, drinks, time, and energy to ensure its success.
They specially appreciated the presence and support of the Zonal Secretary, Northwest Zone, Daharatu Ahmed Aliyu, the Executive Director of KSMC, and Former NAWOJ Chairperson, Farida Abubakar, the former NAWOJ Chairperson, Jummai Yarima, Former Vice Chairman NUJ Kaduna State Council, Jamila Garba Tumba, the immediate Past Chairperson of NAWOJ and current Treasurer of NUJ Kaduna, Fatima Aliyu, as well as all other former leaders of both NUJ and NAWOJ who witnessed and supported the event.
Their presence, encouragement, and motherly guidance added immense value and inspiration to the gathering.
A colorful highlight of the day was the celebration of all August celebrants, who marked their birthdays in grand style amidst songs, cheers, and well-wishes from colleagues.
The shared joy added extra flavor to the event, making it not only a hangout but also a memorable birthday festivity for the celebrants.
The association also acknowledged the remarkable contribution of the Director, Center for Mentorship and Career Development, Dr. Bashariyya Baba, who delivered a powerful and inspiring mentoring talk, the first of its kind at a NAWOJ hangout.
The Chairperson and Secretary equally recognized members who, due to unavoidable circumstances, could not attend, assuring them that they were missed and remain an integral part of the NAWOJ family.
“Every single member—whether through presence, contribution, or support—played a role in making this hangout a celebration of sisterhood, bonding, and professional growth,” the statement read.
The leadership reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening unity among women journalists in Kaduna and providing more platforms for mentorship, professional development, and social equity.
