The President and Chief Executive Officer of Zamani Foundation, Dr. (Mrs.) Talatu Zamani Henry, has appealed to the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, to increase women’s inclusion in governance, stressing that such participation is vital for transparency, peace, and the overall development of the state.
Speaking in an interview with journalists in Kaduna, Dr. Zamani emphasized that as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections, governments at all levels must ensure violence-free polls where citizens can vote freely and choose candidates of their choice without intimidation.
She commended Governor Uba Sani for appointing a woman as deputy governor, describing it as a step in the right direction. “We are happy that we have our mummy with him as deputy governor. We also look forward to seeing more women in key positions in government, including possibly another woman as deputy governor. With more women in governance, your cabinet will be more dynamic and exciting,” she said.
Dr. Zamani, a peace advocate and social development leader, noted that the Zamani Foundation—a registered nonprofit organization that has been active for nearly 35 years—has empowered over 20,000 women, youths, and less-privileged individuals in Kaduna through skills acquisition, capacity building, and other interventions.
She further appreciated Governor Sani for his efforts in bridging the gap between the northern and southern parts of the state, fostering unity, and ensuring inclusivity in governance.
Highlighting the urgent need for job creation across the state, Dr. Zamani reaffirmed her foundation’s commitment to engaging youths, women, children, and other vulnerable groups, with the aim of reducing street idleness, promoting peace, and enhancing sustainable development.
