In a major move to overhaul Nigeria’s security architecture, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared a state of emergency on all security training institutions across the country.
The directive mandates Governors and security chiefs to submit detailed reports on the state of their training facilities within 30 days, aiming to modernize outdated infrastructure in agencies such as the Nigeria Police and the Civil Defence.
President Tinubu, reaffirming his administration's commitment to peace and unity, emphasized that a well-trained and properly equipped security force is non-negotiable for national stability.
"The strength of our security apparatus lies in the quality of its personnel, and that quality begins with superior training," the President stated.
In response to the presidential directive, Kaduna State has been highlighted as a national benchmark for success. The Honourable Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Sule Shu’aibu, SAN, welcomed the announcement, noting that it validates the state's pioneering reforms.
"Kaduna State has already set the pace in security transformation," Dr. Shu’aibu said. "The President’s directive aligns perfectly with the model we have successfully implemented here under the visionary leadership of Governor Uba Sani, CON."
Dr. Shu’aibu credited Governor Sani’s strategic, inclusive, and community-focused policies for the remarkable turnaround in Kaduna’s security landscape. He highlighted that the Governor’s emphasis on proactive response, institutional coordination, and collaboration with communities has restored peace and public confidence across the state.
"The progress achieved in less than three years demonstrates that lasting peace is attainable through visionary leadership and capacity building," the Commissioner added. "The Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs remains dedicated to sustaining this momentum."
President Tinubu’s emergency declaration signals a federal commitment to adopting proven, state-level strategies like Kaduna’s, positioning it as a national blueprint for effective security administration.
