The joint National Assembly Committees on the North-West Development Commission (NWDC), in partnership with the Commission, have finalized preparations for the highly anticipated North-West Stakeholders’ Development Summit. The event is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, 31st January, 2026, in Kaduna State.
Themed “Advancing a Coordinated Regional Development Agenda for North-West Nigeria,” the summit will be held at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Conference Centre, Murtala Muhammad Square, beginning at 10:00am.
In a joint statement, the Chairmen of the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on the NWDC emphasized the summit's critical objective: to foster unity of purpose and a collaborative framework for tackling the region's most pressing issues. They highlighted that the unique platform will convene leadership from across the seven North-West states to align strategies for sustainable progress.
“The interconnected challenges of insecurity, infrastructure deficits, youth unemployment, and social development require a unified, regional response. This summit is a decisive step towards collective ownership and coordinated action for the future of the North-West,” the Committees stated.
The agenda will feature plenary sessions, technical discussions, and sector-focused engagements designed to enhance collaboration, improve policy coherence, and bolster the implementation of the Commission’s mandate.
Attendance will include Governors of the North-West states, Senior Federal and State Officials, National Assembly members, Traditional and Religious Leaders, Development Partners, the Private Sector, NGOs, CSOs, Academia, Youth and Women’s groups, and the Media.
The summit was expected to directly shape the North-West Development Commission’s strategic programs and interventions, while cementing vital partnerships among all stakeholders dedicated to the region’s advancement.
