The National Sports Commission (NSC) today announced the successful resolution of the leadership crisis within the Nigeria Judo Federation, following a decisive stakeholders' meeting convened by the Director General, Honourable Bukola Olopade.
In a unanimous decision aimed at fostering stability and progress, the judo community has endorsed Dr. Musa Oshodi to continue as President of the Federation. Accompanying this, stakeholders have appointed Mr. Segun Gbayi as the Federation's Technical Director. Furthermore, Mr. Amos Iliya was ratified as the new Chairman of the Technical Committee.
Hon. Olopade, who facilitated the reconciliation, emphasized that this agreement marks a pivotal moment for the sport in Nigeria. "A sport can only achieve its full potential in an atmosphere of unity. Internal strife limits growth and excellence. At the Commission, alongside our Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko, we have consistently advocated for peace and collaboration among stakeholders as the foundation for success. Judo possesses significant medal-winning potential for Nigeria at events like the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics, but this can only be realized through a stable and crisis-free federation," the Director General stated.
The newly affirmed President, Engr. Dr. Musa Oshodi, expressed his gratitude for the NSC's intervention. "We extend our sincere thanks to the Director General for his pivotal role in restoring harmony to Nigerian Judo. My board is fully committed to sustaining this peace and driving the sport to new heights. In line with the DG's counsel, we will operate with inclusivity, respect, and dignity for all stakeholders, with our singular focus being the comprehensive development of Judo across the nation."
This consolidation of leadership is expected to usher in a new era of coordinated planning, athlete development, and international competitiveness for Nigerian Judo.
