JOS — Hon. (Dr.) Dayyabu Yusuf Garga, the Walin Garga and Galadiman Jhar, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Government and people of Plateau State as it marks its 50th anniversary of creation.
In a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Hon. Dayyabu Garga on Monday, the community leader and philanthropist described the Golden Jubilee as a time for “deep reflection, gratitude, and renewed hope” for the North-Central state.
Garga paid tribute to the vision and sacrifices of the state’s founding fathers, whose efforts led to the creation of Plateau from the former Benue–Plateau in 1976 and its subsequent peaceful separation from Nasarawa State in 1996.
“We owe a great debt to those who laid the foundation of this great state,” he said. “May Almighty God reward them abundantly for their selfless service.”
The statement also acknowledged the contributions of successive military and civilian administrations in shaping the state’s development trajectory. He specifically recognized the late Chief Solomon Daushep Lar, Plateau’s first civilian governor, whose leadership, Garga noted, “laid a strong democratic and developmental foundation.”
Praise for Mutfwang’s Leadership
Garga reserved special commendation for the incumbent Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, praising his “purposeful leadership” in a short period since assuming office.
“Governor Mutfwang’s administration has recorded notable achievements across critical sectors, repositioning Plateau on the path of sustainable growth and earning admiration beyond our borders,” he stated.
Call for Sustained Peace and Security
Amid the celebrations, Garga also addressed recent security challenges in some local government areas, calling for divine protection against “criminal elements and enemies of peace.” He expressed appreciation for the governor’s swift security interventions, which he said have helped restore calm and reassure affected communities.
Looking ahead, Garga expressed optimism for Plateau State, affirming his confidence in “greater promise, unity, and sustainable development” in the years to come.
The statement concluded with prayers for the continued progress of Plateau State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
