Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with an additional two counts of rape.
The 32-year-old, who previously pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault at Southwark Crown Court in September, is now facing fresh allegations.
Partey, who left Arsenal last year and currently plays for Spanish side Villarreal, is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday, March 13 in connection with the new charges.
The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed: "These new charges relate to a separate report of non-recent offences in 2020 involving one additional woman and follow a new investigation by the Metropolitan Police. These allegations were first reported in August 2025."
Defence lawyer Jenny Wiltshire said: "Thomas Partey continues to deny all charges against him. He has cooperated with the police throughout. Given there are ongoing legal proceedings, there will be no further comment."
The original charges—five counts of rape and one of sexual assault—are alleged to have taken place between 2021 and 2022, during Partey’s time as a regular for Arsenal.
The Ghana international left the Premier League club at the end of his contract on June 30, and was charged four days later.
Partey remains on bail and is due to stand trial in November. He has been permitted to continue playing professionally, including for Ghana’s national team.
The Black Stars are set to face England at this summer’s World Cup in Boston on Tuesday, June 23.
Since joining Villarreal on a free transfer, Partey has made 21 appearances—five of them in the Champions League. Marcelino’s side finished 35th in the 36-team league phase with just one point from eight matches and were eliminated from the Copa del Rey in December.
Villarreal currently sit fourth in La Liga, seven points clear of fifth place.
