The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, signaling the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Tuesday, the Minister congratulated Muslim faithful across the country on the successful completion of Ramadan, urging them to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice imbibed during the fasting period.
He also called on Nigerians, irrespective of religious affiliation, to use the festive period to pray for the unity, peace, and continued progress of the nation.
Tunji-Ojo further encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend acts of kindness to the less privileged, emphasizing the importance of compassion and communal harmony during the season.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to promoting national unity and ensuring peaceful coexistence among all Nigerians.
