The Assistant National Youth Leader (North Central) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hajiya Hasana Shu’aibu Dada, has defended former Vice President Atiku Abubakar against recent online criticism, alleging that the attacks are part of a sponsored campaign to damage his reputation.
Speaking with newsmen in Kaduna, Hajiya Hasana, popularly known as Gimbiya Mai Kunkeli, criticized a social media commentator identified as Aslam over a viral video in which the commentator made allegations against Atiku.
Hasana claimed the commentator was acting on behalf of political interests, alleging that the criticism was financially motivated and intended to discredit the former presidential candidate. She further alleged that the commentator had previously targeted other prominent political figures before turning her attention to Atiku.
Describing Atiku as a respected national leader, Hasana said he deserved respect and urged Nigerians, particularly those in Northern Nigeria, to disregard what she described as unsubstantiated allegations.
She challenged the commentator to present credible evidence to support the claims made against the former vice president, maintaining that she had not seen any verifiable proof linking Atiku to corruption despite years of public scrutiny.
Hasana also warned that further statements she considered defamatory could lead to legal action, saying she was prepared to seek redress through the courts if the attacks continued.
She then called on Nigerians to promote unity and resist efforts to create division through politically motivated campaigns, while praying for the country's peace and progress.
