The Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) of Kaduna UBEC Smart Model School, Kansila, has commended the Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani for its sustained investment in education, particularly the refurbishment and upgrading of facilities at the school.
Speaking during a PTA meeting ahead of the school's maiden Speech and Prize Giving Day and the graduation of its pioneer students, the PTA Chairman, Hon. Adamu Abdullahi Garkuwa, said the government's intervention has transformed the school's learning environment and demonstrated its commitment to quality basic education.
He appealed to parents to continue supporting the school's growth through prompt payment of PTA and development levies, stressing that active parental involvement remains vital to the institution's continued progress.
Garkuwa also applauded the Chief Security Officer to the President, Usman Musa Shugaba, for sponsoring the entire cost of the school's maiden Speech and Prize Giving Day scheduled to hold later this month. He described the gesture as a demonstration of exceptional leadership and commitment to educational development.
As part of the support, Usman Musa Shugaba also donated 200 bags of 20-kilogramme rice to the parents attending the PTA meeting. The items were presented on his behalf by the Secretary of Kubau Local Government Council, Jamilu A. Hashim, and received by the PTA Chairman alongside the School Principal, Rukkaya Abubakar Muhammad.
Earlier, the Principal, Rukkaya Abubakar Muhammad, disclosed that preparations for the maiden Speech and Prize Giving Day and the school's first graduation ceremony had reached an advanced stage, with rehearsals already ongoing.
She highlighted several interventions provided through the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), including the supply of 18 whiteboards, repairs of toilets and other sanitary facilities, monthly internet data subscriptions, and the renovation of 630 desks and chairs.
According to the principal, the improvements have created a more conducive learning environment and enhanced teaching and learning in the school.
She urged parents to monitor their children's academic activities by checking homework regularly and maintaining close communication with teachers to support better learning outcomes.
The principal further revealed that the school has continued to record notable achievements in both academic and extracurricular activities, including winning second and third positions in a debate competitions while representing Kaduna South Local Government Area. She added that plans are underway to provide graduating pupils with training in Canva graphic design to equip them with basic digital skills.
The PTA meeting ended with assurances that all arrangements for the maiden Speech and Prize Giving Day have been concluded, as the school prepares to celebrate the achievements of its first graduating set.
