KADUNA — The stage is set, the finalists are ready and excitement is reaching fever pitch as defending champions Katsina State prepare to face a determined Sokoto State in the grand final of the second edition of the Moses Andishu YSFON Under-18 Championship in Kaduna.
The highly anticipated final follows a dramatic semi-final stage that saw host Kaduna State once again fall to Katsina State in a repeat of last year's final, while Sokoto State booked their place in the championship decider with an impressive 2–0 victory over their Kebbi State counterparts.
Tournament Media Coordinator, Abdulgafar Oladimeji, said football fans should expect an exciting and highly competitive grand finale, describing the encounter between Katsina and Sokoto as a fitting climax to weeks of thrilling youth football.
According to him, the tournament has continued to live up to its objective of discovering, developing and promoting young football talents across the region, while providing a platform for promising players to demonstrate their skills before football stakeholders and talent scouts.
“This year's competition has produced exciting football, impressive talents and memorable moments. The grand final promises to be another major highlight as two strong teams, Katsina and Sokoto, battle for the ultimate prize,” Oladimeji said.
He commended the sponsor of the championship, Moses Andishu, for his continued investment in grassroots football and youth development, noting that the competition has created an important opportunity for young players to showcase their talents and pursue their dreams of playing at higher levels.
Oladimeji urged football lovers, youth groups and sports enthusiasts to turn out in large numbers to witness the final, assuring fans of an entertaining contest between two sides that have demonstrated quality, determination and consistency throughout the competition.
“The final is expected to be a celebration of youth football and the enormous talent available across the North-West. We are inviting everyone to come out and support these young players as they take another important step in their football journey,” he said.
As Katsina seek to retain their title and Sokoto aim to claim the championship trophy, all eyes will be on the final showdown in Kaduna, where only one team will emerge victorious at the end of what has been another exciting edition of the Moses Andishu YSFON Under-18 Championship.
