Concerned Faith-based Interreligious Dialogue Organizations and a Non-Governmental Organization for persons with disabilities (Beyond The Borders Of Disability in Nigeria with Another NGO (The Eye Opener) and other religious leaders have organized a 2-day round table discussion and dialogue for women and people living with disabilities in the state.
The is to discuss the various possible ways to bring an end to all forms of challenges associated with tribalism, discrimination, ethnic religions, political crisis, banditry, and terrorism attacks affecting the region.
Mrs. Margaret Julius who is the National President of a nongovernmental organization ( The Eye Opener) says that the organization deems it fit to organize such a discussion for women and persons living with disabilities to mark world International Peace Day.
"There is the need for continued dialogue to discuss women and children problems that they face daily, relating to poverty, hunger, unemployment".
She said there was the need to promote peace and harmony to all humankind living in the universe, including the persons living with disabilities and other forms of deformities.
"It is also important to know that peace is something very important to the existence of all human beings irrespective of tribe, religion, region, race".
Mrs. Margaret mentioned that people living with disabilities are also stakeholders in peacebuilding, conflict management, and prevention, hence the need to involve them in issues related to mitigating conflicts and crises bedeviling peace and stability in the region.
Responding to the National President Persons Living with Disabilities in Nigeria, Comrade Rilwanu Abdullahi emphasized the need to strengthen Christians and Muslim relationships in the 19 northern states of Nigeria
He said persons with disabilities have a role to play in making Nigeria great and a better place to live.
