RT. HON. YUSUF ADAMU GAGDI PhD, (OON): CELEBRATING AN ICON, SERVANT LEADER AT 43

Celebrating a servant leader is like celebrating a leader who thinks about the solution and not the problem. As a servant leader, Gagdi, due to his natural feeling to serve humanity, views himself as a servant first before being a leader. Exuding servant leadership qualities, and giving a listening ear to citizens always, the rep member has continued to endear himself to his constituents.

Born in Gum-Gagdi, Plateau State in 1980, Yusuf Adamu Gagdi's commitment to serving others is reciprocated in the form of numerous Honours, awards, and Traditional titles conferred on him.

He attended the Federal College of Education, Pankshin where he obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE) before proceeding to the famous University of Jos (UJ) for a B.Sc  (Ed) Economics (Honours) degree. His quest for knowledge made him enroll in the postgraduate program at the same University for his Post Graduate Diploma in Conflict Management and Peace Studies and also his M.Sc in the same Conflict Management and Peace Studies. He had another MSc In intelligence and Global Security from the famous Baze University Abuja. He currently rounded off his Philosophy of Doctors (PhD) in Security and Strategic Studies at Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

The sports lover is married with six (7) children. He was a student unionist, People's Democratic Party(PDP) Financial Secretary, Chairman Board of Directors of the Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority, Chairman of Plateau State Library Board anyone-term Member who represented Kantana Constituency in the 8th Assembly at Plateau State where he was was also served as the Deputy Speaker.

A leader in every sense of the six-letter word, Gagdi adorned himself with distinguishable qualities of selflessness, integrity, loyalty, compassion, generosity, humility, sincerity, sagacity, and above all, fear of God. These and other unique qualities such as intelligence, smartness, uniqueness, and sagacity make him stand out among others. His love for the youth has further set him apart from the crowd.

When he defected from PDP in 2017, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) knowing his worth and strength politically, wooed him into its fold. He decided to quit PDP when he felt the policies and direction of the party had become inconsistent with his philosophy and commitment to democratic principles. As it is said that a golden fish has no hiding place, a few years after he formally declared for APC, he was called to contest for the seat of PKK and para eventually won the general election in 2019 under the platform of the party. He became the first-ever member to be reelected for a second term in the history of the constituency in 2023.

Besides being a shining light in the chamber, on account of his mastery of the business of legislature over the years, he equally made a significant impact on the lives of his constituents on the home front. The people-oriented projects he used in his office as a House member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to attract all the Local Government Areas (LGAs) within PKK are quite enormous. Electorates of his constituency are well pleased with him because he offered them quality representation and brought succor through his various interventions.

The humble, easy-going, and kind-hearted public servant, is believed to be one of the most efficient, resourceful, and cerebral members ever produced by the Green Chamber since the current democratic dispensation came into being in 1999. He held the record of sponsoring the highest number of bills among the first-timers in the National Assembly.

Gagdi, an exceptionally talented economist cum politician, clocked 43 years of age on November 5, 2023.

At 43, it can be said that the young legislative czar and erstwhile Deputy Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly have lived a life of fulfillment. A man of prodigious intellectual prowess, who succeeded in carving a niche for himself and became quite influential in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

As he forges ahead and continues to contribute his quota to the growth and development of our dear country, Nigeria, may God grant him many more fruitful years of good health! In making a wish to celebrate this man of history, one can only pray that it can only get better and that the many decades ahead of him will be filled with God’s abundant blessings on the path of his life. May his days and years ahead be glorious. Many happy years articulated and dogged member.

*Happy belated birthday, our indefatigable member!
