The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Hon. Sani Haruna, has described Governor Uba Sani’s choice of Comrade Jerry Adams as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election as a strategic and inclusive decision capable of further strengthening unity across Kaduna State.
Speaking during a television interview, Haruna said the emergence of Adams, a Christian from Southern Kaduna, alongside the Muslim governor represents a significant step towards religious balance, inclusiveness and broader representation in the state’s political leadership.
According to him, the decision demonstrates Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to bringing people from different religious, ethnic and social backgrounds together under a common purpose.
Haruna noted that the choice was particularly significant because the current deputy governor is also from Southern Kaduna, although a Muslim, while the incoming running mate represents the Christian community from the same broad region.
He described Adams as a professionally qualified personality whose experience in both the private and public sectors would add value to the administration.
“Apart from the religious balance the ticket is bringing, the ticket is bringing on board someone who is well-nuanced in the art of governance and someone who has experience both in private and public sector,” Haruna said.
He further highlighted Adams’ professional credentials, describing him as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management and a Certified National Accountant, with experience in tax administration and public administration.
Haruna also praised Governor Uba Sani’s leadership style, describing it as people-centred and focused on rebuilding unity in a state he said had previously been divided along various fault lines.
He said the governor came into office with a clear understanding that Kaduna belongs to everyone, regardless of whether they are indigenous or residents, and that every citizen should have an opportunity to contribute to the development of the state.
According to him, the administration has consequently pursued actions aimed at bringing people from different backgrounds together around a shared vision for Kaduna.
Haruna said the political development recorded under Governor Uba Sani was evidence of the administration's ability to build broad political support, pointing to the APC's control of all 23 local government areas as an indication of the governor's political reach.
While acknowledging that insecurity remains a challenge in parts of Kaduna State, the APC spokesman credited the Uba Sani administration with improvements in security and accessibility.
He specifically cited the Kaduna-Abuja highway, saying the road had previously become difficult for motorists because of insecurity but that the situation had improved significantly under the current administration.
Haruna attributed the improvement to Governor Uba Sani’s efforts to mobilise resources and strengthen cooperation between the Kaduna State and Federal Governments.
He claimed that motorists can now travel along the Kaduna-Abuja road around the clock with significantly reduced fear of attacks, while insecurity has also declined in areas including Birnin Gwari and parts of Southern Kaduna.
The APC Publicity Secretary further highlighted what he described as progress in agriculture and rural development, saying more than 20,000 hectares of land had been recovered from non-state actors, allowing farmers to return to their farms.
He said the development had contributed to increased agricultural activity and food production, while the construction and connection of roads to farming communities was helping rural residents access markets and other opportunities.
According to Haruna, Governor Uba Sani had promised to give rural communities greater attention, and the administration had taken steps towards fulfilling that commitment.
A Ticket Designed to Build Bridges
The APC spokesman's remarks present the 2027 Uba Sani–Jerry Adams ticket as more than an electoral arrangement, portraying it as an attempt to build political and religious bridges across Kaduna State.
With Kaduna's diverse religious and ethnic composition, Haruna argued that the combination of Governor Uba Sani and Comrade Jerry Adams provides an opportunity to deepen inclusiveness while bringing professional experience into the state's leadership.
The APC, he maintained, remains confident that the administration's record in governance, security, employment, agriculture, infrastructure and political inclusion will provide a strong foundation as the state approaches the 2027 election.
The party's message is therefore centred on continuity, unity and inclusive governance, with the Uba Sani–Adams ticket being presented as a platform capable of consolidating what the administration describes as its gains and extending them to more communities across Kaduna State.
