Zamfara State Distributes Relief Materials to Victims of Disasters

About thirty-eight thousand relief materials have been distributed to affected victims of man-made and natural disasters in Zamfara state.


The Commissioner of Zamfara State Ministry of Humanitarian, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Fa’ika Ahmad disclosed this to newsmen in an interview in Kaduna.


Fa’ika Ahmad explained that despite the challenges the state is facing, both human and natural disasters have been effectively managed through sensitization on early warnings and provision of the relief materials to the victims in the state.


She said the ministry in collaboration with Non Governmental organizations (NGOs) has improved the economic activities of displaced people in Zamfara state.

The Commissioner also commended the efforts of the Save the Children organization for the training of the staff on livelihood and documentation of the strategies planned by the ministry.


She applauded the efforts of desk officers across the fourteen local government areas of Zamfara state towards providing useful information on the disaster.

She further added that the ministry has also provided skills empowerment across all the IDP camps in the state for the disaster victims to be self-reliant.


The commissioner who thanks the Zamfara state governor for his support and cooperation with the ministry in carrying out its activities in the state, called on international organizations to bring more interventions to the state.
