Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the network of Peace Journalism in Nigeria on the Community Initiatives to Promote Peace (CIPP) program, with the collaboration of Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC) is calling on all Nigerians to contribute their quota towards the success of the elections.
Adding that Peacebuilding is an intervention that aims to prevent and counter violent conflict through activities that address the root causes of violence and foster space for peaceful resolutions, with the goal of creating a more stable social and political environment.
In a statement made available to the press by the Team lead, Mr. Ibrahima Yakubu, called on all Nigerians both home and those in the diaspora to join the campaign by educating and creating awareness to the general public on the importance of fully participate, as part of their democratic rights to participate in the electoral processes that will contribute to our nascent democracy towards peace and stability in communities.
According to him, it became mandatory for every citizen, including local and international observers the conduct peaceful elections in the country.
While appealing to the youth to shun all forms of drug-related abuse and elections violence, he draws the attention of women to the need resolute not to allow anything that will not allow them to exercise their rights and not to sell their votes for material gains, so as chose the leaders that will put in place policies and opportunities for women to have a say on issues that is paramount to them for a better tomorrow.
The team leader of the media group also calls on all the media organizations to promote peace activities throughout the campaign seasons; before, during, and after the post-election period.
While calling on other non-governmental organizations working in the areas of peacebuilding, and pleasing to equally take the campaign to the grassroots areas in both rural and urban settlements.

Ibrahima emphasized the need for more media coverage and promotion of activities on peace in our various communities.
He commended the Kaduna State Peace Commission and other relevant government organizations in the country to keep introducing initiatives that foster peacebuilding and unity among the adherence of different ethnic and faith groups in Kaduna State and the country in general.
The team leader also expressed delight over the commitment of the Community Initiatives to Promote Peace (CIPP) program to the monthly Forum on Peace Journalism training over the past 3 years, he said that the engagement has transformed many journalists to be more professional and productive in the field of developmental and peace journalism.

In conclusion, he notes that peacebuilding is done collaboratively, at local, national, regional, and international levels. Individuals, communities, civil society organizations, governments, regional bodies, and the private sector all play a role in building peace.
In the spirit to ensure sustainable positive change, everyone affected by violent conflict has to be involved in the process of building peace, and now is the time that we all need to make our inputs to ensure that peace is sustained in Kaduna State and its environs.
