Kaduna, Nigeria – June 25, 2025
An 18-year-old boy, Umar Lalo Muhammed, caused a brief stir during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s official visit to Kaduna after breaching security in an attempt to directly approach the President with a personal request.
The incident occurred while President Tinubu was delivering a speech. Eyewitnesses said the teenager dashed toward the President before being swiftly apprehended by security operatives. He was found carrying APC flags and a picture of President Tinubu.
In an interview following the incident, Umar Muhammed told www.newspanorama.com.ng that he had walked approximately 13 kilometers from his home in Unguwan Mu’azu to the venue with a single mission — to plead with the President to buy a house for his father.
“I was warned several times by some security personnel not to enter the restricted area,” Umar said. “But my love to meet him kept pushing me. I just wanted to tell him: ‘Please can you help buy a house for my father?’”
After his arrest, he was handed over to the police, who conducted further investigations and took him to the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Barnawa for observation, where he was reportedly discharged after two days.

Residents of Unguwan Mu’azu described the teenager as well-known in the area. Some said he had suffered a head injury at the age of six after being hit by a vehicle, which may have affected his mental health. Despite this, locals say Umar is peaceful and openly passionate about the President.
Umar expressed joy upon learning that President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani had taken interest in his story and promised to meet with him.
“I’m very happy,” he said. “Even though I didn’t speak with the President directly, I feel hopeful that my voice was heard.”
The incident has drawn public sympathy and admiration for the young man’s determination.
