Governor, Nasiru Ahmad el-Rufai, said the decision of Northern governors to support Ahmed Tinubu’s candidacy is because they believe in honor, equity, and justice.
The governor who made the remarks at the Arewa Joint Committee Interactive Session with APC presidential candidate added that their decision on power shift to the South is premised on the assumption that both Sir Ahmadu Bello and Tafawa Balewa will do the same if they were to be alive.
He appreciated six organizations representing various opinions of northern Nigeria that put this engagement together which is commendable.
“I like to suggest to the elders that henceforth this should not be a private initiative but get the full support, endorsement, and financial contribution of the Northern State Governor’s Forum”.
El rufai noted that the initiative is nonpartisan, but trying to present the case of northern Nigeria across party lines, therefore, cutting across party lines deserves the support and encouragement of the Northern State Governor’s Forum.
He thanked Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for his courage and confidence in our people for resisting effort to persuade him not to honor the invitation to the Interactive Session after being told that the whole arrangement is to endorse a particular candidate.
“But insisted and said even if the arrangement is to endorse a particular candidate I will come and change their mind”. “We thanked you for your courage and confidence in our people you for coming here to present your case”.
