The Nigerian Railway Corporation, (NRC) has enjoined motorists and other road users to always use the constructed overpasses for their safety instead of the illegal crossings that subject them to danger.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Director of Public Relations, Yakubu Mahmood, who said, “The Board and Management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation wish to bring to the notice of the general public that there are two (2) constructed overpasses at different locations within the Kubwa, Abuja environs for ease and safety of crossing Railway lines of Abujah-Kaduna Train Service”.
Mahmood noted that resorting to using the illegal way by avoiding the two over the pass to cross the rail had led to collision by the moving train in recent times.
The statement appealed to the mass media to enlighten the public on the safety inherent in using the overpass to cross railway lines.
“We are appealing to the mass media to use their medium to enlighten the general public on the safety imperative of using the overpass to cross railway lines”.
“The Federal Government Policy on railway modernization is ensuring the safety of motorists and trains through the construction of overpasses in all railway lines”. Yakubu Mahmood added.
