VLR Engagement Workshop Highlights SDGs Implementation – Kaduna State SDGs Coordinator

Kaduna State Coordinator of Sustainable Development Goals, (SDGs) Hajiya Aisha Muhammed

The Kaduna State Coordinator of Sustainable Development Goals, (SDGs) Hajiya Aisha Muhammed has said the maiden Voluntary Local Review (VLR) Stakeholders Engagement Consultative Workshop has been a success.

Hajiya Aisha Muhammed who stated this on the sideline of the 4-day engagement workshop further described the exercise as impressive with stakeholders invited given valuable contributions.

“The VLR is a process through which sub-national governments assess and document progress made in achieving the SDGs implementation”.

According to her, “the stakeholders cut across officials from the state and federal MDAs, paramilitary organizations, and Civil Society Organizations, (CSOs) among others”.

The State SDGs Coordinator explained that the workshop was organized to educate and for the stakeholders to review the questionnaire to speed up the VLR process”.

She said the State SDGs Project Support Unit in collaboration with the State’s Bureau of Statistics (KDBS), was conducting the VLR engagement to report on the progress of SDGs across the state and mainstream it into the state’s policies and multiyear plans.

Hajiya Aisha Muhammed who thanked all stakeholders that participated for their valuable contribution to the process commended development partners for being with the state at all times.

The lead Consultant of the VLR process, Dr. Barth Feese assured that the final report would be ready by mid-January after which the stakeholders will be invited to validate it.
