The Northern Consensus Movement, (NCM) has described as monumental genocide the killing of over Forty (40) people majority of whom are Fulani pastoralists on the alleged instructions of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.
The NCM President, Dr. Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu made the disclosure at the end of a two-day meeting of the Organization in Kaduna.
“We are not in a mood to crack jokes today as usual, because we are in the gravest and the monumental upset of mind as a result of genocide which has resulted in the killing of over Forty (40) people which majority of them are Fulani’s pastoralist on the alleged instructions of the present Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom”.
“We have been critically following his uncommon hatred of the Fulanis and the Hausas and have recorded his actions and utterances against them which clearly proved beyond any reasonable doubt that he doesn’t want to see their existence”.
Dr. Awwal said NCM has taken a position to sue the Benue State Governor to the International Criminal Court in Hague for committing genocide crimes against humanity.
He was bewildered by the attitude of some Nigerian leaders particularly, the silence of Northern States Governors over the killings.
“The NCM is therefore calling on the chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum to as a matter of urgency unravel this act of executive rascality”.
The NCM President also urged the leaders of the National Assembly, Senate, and House of Representatives to investigate the matter, so that families of the deceased are adequately compensated.
“We are using this press conference to solicit for the support of any Nigerian who is touched by this inhuman act to drag Samuel Ortom to court for his act of genocide against Fulani community with his expertise or in any way he feel he can assist to achieve this noble act”.
The conference sent words of warning to Benue State Mr. Samuel Ortom and his co-travellers in the act of Northerners and Northern interest, where ever they are that from now on it will not be business as usual killing our people with no repercussions.
“We will mobilize, organize, sensitize our people to be vigilant and prepare to defend themselves where and when they ever found themselves”.
“Let the world know that their silence is not an act of cowardice if retaliation of killing our kin and kith will make Nigeria break let it be so”.
Toward the 2023 general election, the President of the Northern Consensus Movement appealed to the Northern politicians to prevail over the presidential candidates from the Northern extraction to come up with a consensus candidate.
“we will like to remind Nigerians that of Twenty-four years of civilian Canada to Roman numerous news how to you guys administrations the southerners ruled for fourteen years and the northerners ruled for ten years”.
“Therefore, the North has the balance of four years to rule. We are soliciting for our paramount leaders across the north, including our religious leaders and indeed the youths to support the survival of the north for the 2023 presidency”.
