The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Niger state council has lauded the Governor of the state, Hon.Umar Mohammed Bago and his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba over the appointment of the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hajiya Ummukhaltume Abdullahi Kuta.
The commendation was made when the leadership of the state NUJ paid a congratulatory visit to the new Press Secretary in her office on Thursday, at the Government house, Minna.
The state NUJ Chairman, Comrade Abu Nmadu represented by the council Vice Chairman, Comrade Uriah Tsado Gana said the NUJ was pleased with the appointment of media personel into the office.
He said the Union did not doubt the capacity of the press secretary to deliver on the mandate of her office, saying NUJ was willing to partner and support her to succeed.
Similarly, the NUJ council secretary, Comrade Usman Mohammed Chiji said the NUJ was part of the Bago/Yakubu project from onset because they have no doubt that the two will make good administrators, adding that they will continue to support the Bago/Yakubu administration to deliver dividend of democracy to the people.
He equally informed the Press Secretary that she should not hesitate to reach out to the Union whenever she needs their support, saying the doors of the union will always remain open for her.
In her response, the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hajiya Ummukhaltume Abdullahi Kuta said she was overwhelmed with joy seeing the leadership of her immediate constituency coming to show her solidarity.
While appreciating the NUJ for the visit the Press Secretary added that she looks forward to close collaboration with the NUJ for the success of the Bago/Yakubu administration.
In a related development, the National council of local government department of works and housing, through a letter signed by the National President of the council, Engr. M.K Adamu congratulated the Deputy Governor of Niger state Comrade Yakubu Garba over his election and inauguration, saying the council was not surprised with this feat considering his antecedence when he steared the affairs of NLC in the state.
Also, in a congratulatory letter by the state local government pension board and signed by the Director General, Emmanuel E. Alamu, the board said it was confident the Deputy Governor's influence will make a positive impact on the state.
