The front runner for the Presidency of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Isaiah Benjamin is inching closer to victory as the SWAN electoral body, SWANECO has declared him eligible to contest the body's election coming up next week in Port Harcourt .
SWAN Electoral Committee headed by Chief Sunny Ugele had in the week, released the list of candidates that would participate in the election.
Speaking on the development, the Kaduna SWAN Chairman, Shehu Abdullahi said that the coast is clear for Mr. Benjamin to become the national president of the body.
"I can assure that going by our level of interaction with delegates and stakeholders, Isaiah Benjamin is the next legitimate chairman of SWAN.
"We have done the necessary consultations and our manifesto has spoken out for us, we are on course for victory," he said.
Similarly, the state secretary, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson said that the top contender for SWAN top job would take the body to the next level and a step higher in line with the vision of Sir Honour Sirawoo, the outgoing president.
"Isaiah Benjamin would reenact the Kaduna success story at the national level,this is for sure.
"He is going to the national to work for the upliftment of every member of the sporting body. During his tenure as the chairman of SWAN, Kaduna members were given palliatives, loans, educational and training opportunities were made in house for members. All these will come play when he is elected.
"He is going to consolidate on the golden era of and the laudable visions of the current National President, so let's support him,"
Dickson added.
