Capacity To Deliver:Kaduna Group Urges Tinubu to Replace El-Rufai with Shehu Sani

The group under the umbrella of Kaduna Concerned Progressive Citizens (KCPC) has urged President  Bola Ahmed Tinubu to replace former Kaduna Governor, Mal. Nasir El-Rufai with the former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani on grounds of quality representation; competency, and capacity to deliver.

According to the group, Kaduna citizens cannot afford to have anyone with less capacity and ability as a Minister at the top level of governance.

The Senate had last week approved the appointment of 45 out of the 48 ministerial nominees submitted by President Bola Tinubu for confirmation.

However, former Governor El-Rufai, and two other nominees; Stella Okotete (Delta) and Danladi Abubakar (Taraba) were not confirmed as the senate said they were awaiting security clearance about them.

The former governor met with Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja, on Tuesday, but the outcome of the meeting was not made public.

But Premium Times quoted presidency sources as saying El-Rufai told President Tinubu that he was no longer interested in becoming a minister, but would continue to contribute his quota to the development of Nigeria as a private citizen.

He also told the president that he needed time to focus on his doctorate program at a university in The Netherlands,” the online newspaper quoted another source to have said.

Another source was quoted as saying the former governor suggested a new ministerial nominee — Jafaru Ibrahim Sani — for Kaduna.

In a press statement signed by Comrade Samaila Ahmed Kudan, the group said it was against the background of capable replacement that we the Kaduna Concerned Progressive Citizens are appealing to President Tinubu to consider Senator Shehu Sani are the best option to Replace El-Rufai.

The further reads: “We don’t have any contact or relationship with Senator Shehu Sani, but we strongly believe in his capacity as the voice of masses and human rights activists coupled with invaluable contributions during his days in 8th Senate.

“Moreso, that in consideration for a robust cabinet with arrowheads with both grassroots and international reach to attract goodwill from Tinubu’s government.

” We want to use this medium  as a group to thank Tinubu for all the previous appointments made, especially those of service chiefs with our son as the Chief of Defence Staff.”
