ZAKARI ISAH


A National Gold and Silver medalist at the at the National Sports Festival in 1996 (Benue ''96), setting aside, the national record of Lagos '89 in 40km Individual Time Trial with a new national record during Benue '96, he is also, three times bronze medalist four years later at the Bauchi 2000 in the Cycling event, Samaila Usman fondly called the 'Diamond Coach' is an astute and hardworking coach one among many.

The new man at the helm of the Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development Technical Unit is an alumni of Harton Cycling Club Durham England and a Member Association of British Cycling Coaches as well as the British Cycling Coaching & Education Manchester who was before now Chief Coach Cycling Ministry of Sports Development Kaduna State and Member National Coaching Crew Cycling Federation of Nigeria.

Samaila Usman's technical abilities are among the best because his quest for personal development saw him attend several national and international courses including the Citizen and Leadership Training Centre and First Aid Safety Education (Basic Level Course in 2018.                                                             

Still on a personal effort, attended the UCI Cycling Coaching Course in Cairo Egypt in 2006, but before then, he was in London two years earlier for the British Coaching Academy in                    2014. 

Other courses attended are:

  • UCI Certificate of Participation ITU Coaching Course   2011,
  • UCI Level 1&2 Coaching Course in Switzerland                    2019,
  • UCI WADA Coachtrue Certificate 2019,               
  • Certificate of Participation 12th AAG Morocco 2019. 


In 2013, however, Coach Samaila, a graduate of BSc Ed Physical and Health Education from Ahmadu Bello University, was a recipient National Productivity Award (Order of Merit Award 2013).
