e-CAPH, Beulah Future Leaders Foundation Takes SRH Services To LGAs

As part of efforts to strengthen the capacity and empower young advocates to combat sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and promote sexual and reproductive health (SRH) rights, Enhancing Communities Action for Peace and Better Health Initiative (e-CAPH) in partnership with Beulah Future Leaders Foundation has organized a training for young adults.

A statement jointly signed by the two organizations, revealed that the training targeted over 80 adolescents and young adults in the Igabi and Chikun Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.

“The primary focus of this training is to empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to bolster their self-esteem and become advocates for improved access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information and services. Additionally, we aim to equip them with the tools and insights needed to champion the fight against sexual and gender-based violence within their communities”.

“We are directly contributing to SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). These advocates will work tirelessly to bridge existing gaps and inequalities, fostering an environment where gender-based violence is condemned and health services are accessible to all”, according to the statement.

“To promote inclusivity and Empowerment, the training embodies the principles of SDG 10 to Reduced Inequalities and SDG 16 for Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, to amplify the voices of marginalized communities, in a commitment to create a more just and inclusive society where every individual’s rights are upheld, and violence is eradicated”.

The e-CAPH Executive Director, Yusha’u Abubakar explained that the groundbreaking initiative which holds the potential to catalyze significant positive changes in society, aligning with the broader goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda was generously supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The statement further in part reads;
“The benefits of this initiative are manifold, as it holds the potential to usher in a wave of positive change:

1. Empowered Youth: Our trained advocates will emerge as change-makers, influencing their peers and communities positively. They will act as role models and mentors, inspiring others to join the fight against SGBV and advocate for SRH rights.
2. Reduction in SGBV Incidents: Through increased awareness and advocacy, we aim to significantly reduce incidents of sexual and gender-based violence, ultimately creating safer and more supportive communities.
3. Advancement of Gender Equality: By actively promoting gender equality and SRH rights, we are contributing to a more equitable society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their gender.
