Kaduna, Nigeria - The National President of the Nigeria Networks of Peace Journalists (NNPJ), Mr. Ibrahima Yakubu, has expressed satisfaction with the recently concluded Peace week-long Events, aimed at marking International Peace Day in Kaduna, describing it as remarkable.
In a statement released to the newsmen on Monday 23rd, September, 2023, Mr. Yakubu extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Kaduna State Peace Commission, Mercy Corps, Interfaith Mediation Center (IMC), Action Aid, Global Peace Development, and International Alert for their efforts in organizing the commemorative event.
Mr. Yakubu highlighted that "this event was the first of its kind, featuring a series of daily activities held over the course of seven days. "These activities were designed to educate the general public on the significance of peace and harmony among adherents of different faith-based organizations in the country".
A variety of activities took place during the week, including sports events such as football games, endurance trekking, visits to IDP camps, and media briefings by Islamic and Christian clergy members who emphasized the importance of the entire Peace Week.
The seven-day event, which commenced last Friday and concluded on Thursday evening at Kaduna State University, successfully educated millions of Kaduna community members on the importance of fostering peace and unity.
The NNPJ President, also expressed gratitude to the technical committee that was responsible for planning the entire event, underscoring their role in its success.
He further acknowledged the support of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jamaatul Nasrul Islam (JNI), as well as all the Media Organizations that collaborated with stakeholders to ensure the success of the entire week-long event.
At the end, Mr. Yakubu extended his appreciation to the Kaduna State Police Command, the Kaduna State Joint Task Force (Civilian JTF), and other civil organizations that contributed to making this year's International Peace Day truly remarkable.
