The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC says it's set to commence another dose of Diphtheria Vaccination targeting children between the ages of 0-15 years in the Jema'a Local Government area of Kaduna State.
This is in line with the proactive steps taken by the center in curtailing further outbreaks of the diphtheria disease to eliminate its effects on individuals and families across the state.
The NCDC team, led by Dr. Umar Okhuarobo made this known during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Jema'a Local Government, Mr.Yunana Markus Barde in Kafanchan, Kaduna state, Nigeria.
Dr. Umar explained that house-to-house surveillance and sensitization were required as part of the strategic intervention measures to fine-tune the eradication process.
He acknowledged the hard work and effort put in place by the Chairman during the first stage of the diphtheria outbreak, noting that, the visit was to inform him of the readiness of NCDC to commence another dose of vaccination on October 7th targeting children within 0-15 years.
Comrade Barde, in his response, expressed appreciation to NCDC and other stakeholders for their cooperation and swift approach during the initial stage of the Diphtheria outbreak in some parts of the local Government.
He pointed out that, the Council in conjunction with its Rapid Response Team and Health Task Force Committee was working assiduously to dictate early warning signs and ensure swift response toward addressing any health-related challenges in the area.
Mr. Barde affirmed his administration's commitment to healthcare Service Delivery and other endeavors to ensure the well-being of people at the grassroots is enhanced for socio-economic prosperity.
