POLO: Kaduna Int'l Polo Gallops Up October In Phases...Club Management Okays Polo Turf Test-Run

Kaduna Polo Club Executive Management has reiterated its commitment to continue to canvass for more partnerships to upgrade the club infrastructure as well as look after the welfare of the players.

The Chairman Executive Management Committee (EMC) of  Kaduna Polo Club, Muhammed Babangida who gave the hint while fielding questions after the test-run game at the Polo Club main turf, okayed the polo field test-run conducted with the belief that it will withstand the rigors of tournament matches.

After reluctance by various teams Patrons to again participate in any tournament on the Kaduna Polo turf, which they described as in a bad state, the club management, according to Muhammed Babangida decided to take a year off and suspend the tournament to improve.

"We have invested a lot of time and resources to fix the field, it was one of the negative times for Kaduna Polo Club most of our participating teams were reluctant to come because of the condition of the field".

"So we decided to take a year off the tournament and find out those who want to donate for the improvement and upliftment of the field Alhamdulilah today marks the first day since the rehabilitation work commenced to us is a great celebration because we have been able to play on the field and we are very satisfied". 

Babangida thanked the consultant and those who participated and donated to ensure a good field.

"I think is very good for the first-time outing, but stood up beyond our expectations, so I believe is going to withstand the rigors of the tournament".

On challenges, he said "Generally, running a club definitely you have challenges here and there, it depends on how you come together as a team to overcome them and so far this (EMC) the executive management committee has done a remarkable job.

The chairman revealed that the first tournament will commence at the end of October in phases with Georgian and Al-Amin Cups while after about a week the players will mount for Emir's of Katsina (Dickson Cup) and Imani Cup.
