The Chairman of the Northern Governors' Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON, has felicitated with former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Rtd, on the occasion of his 89th birthday today, 19th October 2023.
Governor Inuwa described General Gowon as an iconic figure in Nigeria's history, who played a significant role in unifying the country and shaping the nation's destiny with his visionary leadership when he served as Head of State.
He noted the commitment of the former Head of State to peacebuilding, noting that Gowon remains a shining example of a true patriot and elder statesman whose life is worthy of emulation.
"General Gowon's sustained efforts in promoting harmony, fostering cohesion among Nigerians through his National Prayer Movement initiative and other endeavors continue to inspire understanding, good neighborliness, and a high degree of unity and patriotism among the diverse people of the country. His dedication to the spiritual and moral wellbeing of the nation is highly inspiring".
