President, of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has cautioned athletes,  against indulging in drugs and banned substances.

He expressed this while addressing them at the closing ceremony of the National Division One and Two Volleyball League on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Indoor Sports Hall of the  Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

He explained that as a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), it would be out of place for Nigeria's volleyball players to be caught or addicted to using banned substances.

"If they take drugs, they will be hitting the ball with such unnatural force, due to the influence of such banned substances," he said.

He further warned against bringing the name of NVBF to disrepute by falling for the antics of fraudsters who use social media to lure unsuspecting athletes into patronizing them.

On the sponsorship drive, he told corporate organizations to key into the federal government's incentives for organizations that sponsor or support sporting activities through tax holidays.

When fielding questions from newsmen, he said Kaduna State remains the number one in Nigeria in grassroots development of volleyball.

"At the recent National Youth Games in Asaba, Kaduna won three medals, one gold in beach volleyball and two silver from the indoor events, this is a a result of athletes we discovered and groomed

" We develop the players that represent us, we don't go poaching during competitions. You can still see them wearing their branded Team Kaduna outfits within the city," he said.
