The Ministry of Sports Development has described the Taekwondo State Association as the most vibrant association in the state.

Prof. Benjamin Kumai-Gugong, Kaduna State Commissioner for Sports Development disclosed this during the inauguration ceremony of the Kaduna State Taekwondo Association at the Media Centre of Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

"We have never attended a national championship with Taekwondo and returned empty-handed, we always came back with medals for the glory of the state".

Represented by the Director of Sports Administration in the Ministry, Yusuf Joshua Yamai, Professor Gugong congratulated the new board members and assured them to work together for the growth and development of the sport in Kaduna.

" I am delighted with the caliber of people am seeing on board, the spirit is, that we want to take sports as a business which the chairman has already taken the first step, making contact with corporate bodies and spirited individuals that would take Taekwondo to the next level".

"And I believe with the support of members that we have here, infarct I am just seeing Taekwando moving ahead of other associations even in Kaduna state".

"My Commissioner has asked me to congratulate you and to wish you all the best and to also assure that the state ministry of sports is always by your side to give you all the necessary backup and support as at when required".

He lauded the effort of the Chairman for making a case for funding for the association.

The Chairman of Kaduna State Taekwando Association Bala Aliyu who inaugurated a 9-member board of the association, called for a renewed resolve to move Taekwando forward in the state.

Bala said he will intensively canvass funds for the association fund to enable it to conduct its development program in the state.

"In terms of funding, we cannot do it alone, we are going to reach the government to come up with a policy that would enable us to reach out to companies, banks, and multinationals for the fund, we relied on the government now with the situation of things".

 The state chairman charged the board to reach out to both primary and secondary schools for clinics to introduce the game to have enough pool of Taekwondo athletes to enhance participation in the championship.

"Not only our conventional schools, we have to take to islamiyya schools and to churches to also scout for young talents"

Bala Aliyu tasked the technical personnel to advise the board appropriately for the greater good of the association.

"In terms of the technical aspect, we are not too versed, we are to manage administratively, therefore we relied solely on you, the technical people, we seek your cooperation to guide and put us through".
