Kaduna State Water Supply in Jeopardy, Seven Month Salary Delay Forces Shutdown Malali Water Works, Triggers Water Scarcity in Metropolis

The non-payment of seven months' salaries of Kaduna State Water Corporation (KADSWAC) workers Haas generated negative reactions, leading to the shutdown of Malalli water works which triggered water scarcity in the Kaduna metropolis.

The chairman of the staff Pressure Group of the Corporation, Mr Joseph Andrew Arewa, stated this while speaking to newsmen In Kaduna. 

He said the Staff have demanded the payment of their outstanding seven-month salaries and entitlements, saying failure will force them to continue with their strike which led to acute water scarcity in the metropolis.

Mr Joseph Arewa added that the staff were forced to go on strike because the authorities had failed to pay them their outstanding salaries despite several promises.

He said the staff are facing difficulties due to non-payment of their seven months' salaries which make it difficult to cater to their family's daily needs.

Mr. Joseph Andrew however, appealed to the Kaduna State governor to come to the aid of the workers by paying them their salaries to enable them to their family's problems.
